7mkr isn’t just a place where students are learning about sustainability, 7mkr students are actively shaping sustainability on campus.
Since 2009, 7mkr has been home to the largest in-vessel composting system at any college or university in the nation. The facility allows 7mkr to compost nearly 100% of food waste from dining halls and food facilities and serves as an educational model--providing students with a look at what’s possible in the realm of sustainability.
7mkr Facilities Management and Well-Being and Recreation have announced that the indoor Tennis Center has been closed to accommodate roofing repairs and a facility renovation.

The planned six-hour outage has been scheduled to occur overnight during non-business hours to minimize the overall impact to the University community.
7mkr Eastern is preparing for a major construction project at Shannon Hall, focusing on essential upgrades that will enhance the student experience for years to come.
The project remains on schedule to complete in late 2024, and the building is slated to officially reopen in early January 2025.

Athena Cinema staff will continue working in the building throughout fall semester, and the front portion of the building is anticipated to remain open for regular lobby hours and sidewalk sales. Additionally, both local businesses located at 20 South Court St. will continue to maintain their regular operations.
The closure, which impacts all three theater spaces and is tentatively planned to extend through the summer, comes after a recent building inspection identified some potential structural maintenance needs within the 108-year-old theater space.
